Page 2 of 2 With 15 kilometers of Arles the calcareous chain of Alpilles rises in the middle of Provence between Luberon and the sea. These white and jagged peaks point in the blue sky. This solid mass dominates of many picturesque provençaux villages: Beam-of-Provence, this expensive view-point of glory and legends in Mistral and Daudet, Fontvieille, Paradou, Maussane Alpilles, Mouriès, Eygalières and Saint Rémy of Provence. From one end to another of this mountainous and bluish chain fields of olive-trees and rich person vineyards ravel. The valley of the Beams is now famous for its olive oil and its green olives broken. The wines which leave the wine fields of the Beams compete with best Côtes-du-Rhône. A dozen fields have name A.O.C now. Slopes of the Beams and several of them open their doors with the visitors. The small train of Alpilles proposes to you of Arles with Fontvieille, country of adoption of Daudet, while passing to the feet of the abbey of Montmajour, carries medieval of Alpilles, a bucolic and peaceful walk to 20 km/h of average. Alpilles are also famous for ornithological fauna. The eagle of Bonelli in particular constitutes the floret of it. The montagnette, small solid mass of hills limestones, offers picturesque landscapes which smell good thyme and rosemary. One discovers there Tarascon, city of Tarasque and fatherland of Tartarin as well as the Abbey of Saint Michel de Frigolet, where was invented by the reverend Père Gauchet the legendary liquor of Frigolet.
